Straight answers
Does my PDF get uploaded?
No. Extraction, layout reconstruction, OCR and the Word file itself are all produced on your phone. Papyr makes no network requests of its own; the only two exceptions are the App Store purchase and an anonymous usage counter you can switch off.
How good is the conversion?
Text and basic formatting are preserved; headings, lists, columns and clearly ruled tables are rebuilt; images are placed. Complex layouts are approximate. You see the real Word file before you export it, so there are no surprises after paying.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scanned pages are recognised on the device with Apple Vision. Expect a few seconds per page and the occasional misread on poor scans; the app flags pages with low confidence.
What is free?
Converting and previewing are free without limit. Exporting a Word file is free once a week. Word → PDF and single image → PDF are always free.
Is there a subscription?
